"Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ."
These family rocks turned out really cute.
I tried to draw details that would really identify each member of our family.
A bike for Steve. A Pinkalicious wand for Scarlett.
Guy drew a "pet monster" (pictured above),
and since he didn't like the "Guy rock", I just had to do a robot rock.

(Hey, whose obsession is this anyway?)
It's always neat to see how these lessons with the kids develop.
I started off picking this craft, because it was cute and easy,
and I thought it would be fun to say "My Family ROCKS!".
But as I talked with them today,
I realized that our project fit perfectly with today's quote,
because Jesus Christ is THE ROCK.
He is The Rock upon which if we build,
we cannot fail.
During his earthly ministry, the Savior spoke of
a wise man who built his house upon a rock
and when the storms came, his house "fell not".
In The Book of Mormon, Helaman advises
"Remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer,
who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation
that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds...
and his mighty storm shall beat upon you
it shall have no power over you...
because of the rock upon which ye are built,
which is a sure foundation,
We would be wise to build our families upon The Rock,
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
so that together, we will be able to weather the storms of life safely.

I agree your Family ROCKS!!Its a nice way to teach that principle to the kids.
ReplyDeleteThat scripture in Helaman is one of my favorite, and I know that if we teach the ways of the Lord to our children they would not fail.
Yes, The best Team is right.

Love the rockin' family.
ReplyDeletehey Jocelyn! I love that you are back to blogging about the gospel again and love reading your insightful topics. I noticed in your cute rocks that the mommy rock had a cute belly... Am I out of the loop or is #4 on the way
ReplyDeletegreat ideas. You should send some of these into the Ensign.
ReplyDeleteThis awkward silence goes out to Luisa Cruz.....wait for it....ok, done! Actually, Luisa, you win the prize for most observant blog friend, but NO, I do not have such exciting news as that to share...but wouldn't that be fun?! :) I just drew a pregnant stick-lady on my rock, because I thought that represented "Mother" more than my first hideous attempt did! My husband said the same thing when he came home though! Thanks for your comment, that was fun! :) Good hearing from you!
ReplyDeletegood thing I read your last comment otherwise I'd be on the phone screaming, Why didn't you tell me?
ReplyDeleteYour FAMILY rocks!! I like this one again!! well i always like everything you do!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I think you need to draw your family on one big rock though, so you can all be together and not separate.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea! He really is our Rock and with a solid rock foundation it's pretty hard to crumble under the craziness of this world but as mountains can quake under the most intense pressure we still need to have grasp of the rod to catch us if the earth falls from under us. Thanks for sharing.
