BELIEVE

Believe Blocks with Nativity In Red and Gold on Wood Blocks

Hopefully you know by now how much I love "magic words" and how powerful I think words can be in our lives.

I have a lot of "magic words" that I tell myself to talk myself out of a mental jam, but if I had to pick just one magic word that represents me, all my hopes and dreams, the way that I approach each day, how I view my future and my past it would be "BELIEVE".  For me, being believing just encompasses everything hopeful, everything good, everything childlike and everything true.

The more of myself that I invest in believing and having faith in God, the stronger and more complete I become as a person and the more of my dreams I am able to realize.

I hope that in reading my posts during the last year, you've been inspired to be more believing in your every day lives.  Being believing is truly the first step to understanding who we are and what we are here to do.  It is the first step to happiness.

The Etsy shop 4 All Seasons has some really great Christmas items in their shop right now.  And they have donated this lovely set of "Believe Blocks" as a giveaway for you lovely readers.  4 All Seasons has been very supportive of my blog (providing items for Service Boot Camps and such), so please go visit their shop and thank them for the good they do!

To WIN THIS BELIEVE BLOCK SET:

1.  Tell me one thing that you BELIEVE more today than you did one year ago.

I will announce the winner tomorrow.

  1. I believe more in myself. That I have power. That I influence for good. That I am of worth.

It sounds self-absorbed to write that, but that belief has helped me open up to others much more freely.

  2. I truly believe that the Lord is always there for us. He cares about us. He helps us through ALL of our trials. It takes US to recognize that, both during and after the trial. One of my children went through a sad divorce. He was ministered to, literally, by the Lord. He survived...and is now more on his own feet, but he has forgotten the Lord, and the help from those He inspired. Thus, he has turned away from God. Still, I know that we must recognize and then remember.

  3. That I can do anything! I started college this year and it's been amazing to realize that I really can do anything I want in this life. It's been very empowering for me to come to that conclusion. ~Janelle

  5. I believe that we can do anything we put our mind to with Heavenly Father's help. My husband is Bishop of our ward, works full time and went back to college full time 2 years ago. Add in our family and his plate was overflowing. But this Saturday after much hard work, he will graduate with an Associates Degree. Something he had always wanted to do. I believe that if we fulfill our callings to the best of our ability Heavenly Father will bless us with all good things that we desire.

  8. Oh I like those blocks!

And I like this question, too.

One thing I believe more than I did at this time last year is that the Lord's plan for each of His children can be trusted, and that any other plan (including mine) would be inferior in every way.

Not that I didn't know this last year, but that I didn't know it as deeply and surely as I do now.

    =)

PS. I am going to go check out that shop!

  13. I believe more that God is aware of us and our needs even before we do. He knows everything and we just have to trust in him.

  14. I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I've always known this, but over the last year I've really been working on trying to be more like Him. As a result, my testimony of Him and His mission and His role in the great plan of salvation has increased. I feel like my testimony of Him is the strongest it has ever been.

  17. Last year my resolution was to not make a resolution but to make changes as I saw the need. Today, I believe more in myself and my ability to do hard things. Last year, I would have never made that statement.

I am in Canada so if you don't ship here that's fine or if I get picked as a winner, you could send it to my sister (who lives in the states) as a gift!

  18. I believe that Heavenly Father answers prayers and that the Savior walks with us through our difficulties in life.
The experiences of this year have strengthened that belief. I do not know what I would do if I did not believe that I have a Heavenly Father and a Savior who loves me.
Blessings to you for all of your sweet posts.

  22. I believe that I don't have to be as good as other women that are around me. I've had a little insecurity about that as I have married. I have found that Heavenly Father has given me the experience so I can better serve and love those around me.

  23. I believe that everything happens for a reason and that God puts people in our lives at certain times for certain things!

  24. I believe that the scriptures are an irreplaceable part of staying on the right path, not losing perspective, and being close to the Spirit. They are a gift to keep us close to Him and provide an essential daily nourishment.

  25. That the little things really do matter and way easier to do than the big things.=)

  26. I believe in the strength a loving husband can bring to me. A year ago we were happy as a couple but now, a year later, we are stronger, more patient with each other and more loving to each other. In a month and 2 days, we are going to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple to be sealed as a forever family. I have waited for this day for what feels like my whole life and I cannot control the emotions that this occasion brings. My husband and our 2 year old twins are the joy of my life and to have them with me forever is a gift that I cannot express enough gratitude for. So today, more than ever, I believe in my forever family and the joy they bring to me!

  40. I believe more in the fragility of life. Life is so precious and can be taken in an instant. I believe in living in each moment and not taking family and friends for granted. I believe there is a plan and some souls are called back early to do a much greater work on the other side.

  41. I believe that the Lord is teaching me all the right lessons.

  42. I believe more in the power of "living like you believe". I'm currently the Stake YW president and our 2011 year focused on teaching the youth the importance of why we need to LIVE like we believe. As in, LIVE our standards, LIVE the gospel more fully. LIVE and DO what we believe. It's not just about what we claim to believe, but actually living the way we believe in every aspect of our lives. My entire perspective changed when I began to realize that our spirits aren't meant for duality. We can't believe one thing and do another. We have to be more fully committed, rather than merely involved in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I learned this so powerfully this past year and it's changed my life.

I would not have been able to get through this year . With out my faith and believing that we have to go through trials to make us strong. And I believe that i can get through anything if i only rely on my heavenly father and the holy ghost to guide me through.

I have never been very organized and it used to drive me crazy but I just said 'thats the way I am' some things have come up this last year that has MADE me become organized and WOW! I believe that everyone can find a system that works for them and when you start with the outside it effects the inside and vice versa- it is the best!

  46. (I believe your blog is changing my life)

A year ago I had a new born baby and was struggling to feel like I had a handle on my life. I had a daughter in kindergarten, son in preschool, and a baby who cried all day and all night. I woke up every morning telling myself I couldn't face the challenges, that I would fail, that I just simply couldn't do it all.

And then one day the Spirit whispered to me "you can" and I believed. The next morning I got up and told myself that I can accomplish all the Lord has planned for me, that I could be a mother who didn't worry so much about having a clean house and folded laundry actually put away in the dressers, but a mother who could bring the light of the gospel and the love of Christ into the hearts of my family.

A year later I can say that my home isn't nearly as clean as I like, I am always behind on laundry...but I have come to believe that if families put Christ first, focus on talking about Him, preaching about Him, basing our decisions on what He would do, using His life and teachings to help when disciplining children, and making Him the center of the home, that life goes by in a more orderly and less chaotic fashion. Family relationships improve, there is more peace, more love, better choices are made, just the quality of life is improved.

I believe the Spirit is there to testify of Christ and to bring us to Him, and if we listen and then act on those promptings, all the other aspects of life fall into place.

  53. I believe in true friends. Friends that are there when you need them. Friends that help even when you don't ask for it. Friends who love you for who you are. Friends that lift you when you are down. Friends that have good times and laugh with you. Friends that accept you for who you are and don't judge the things that you do. My belief in true friendship has grown so much this year.

  57. I have always believed in the power of prayer and blessings. Over the last year those beliefs have become stronger. The one belief that has grown the most though is the belief in personal revelation for my family. I can look back over this year and think of many instances that the Holy Spirit has guided me in the care of a chronically ill daughter. But I can also now look back over many years and see the way that the Holy Spirit has helped me help her, and the way that things have just come together to get correct diagnoses and find her help.

  58. Man... ONE thing? That's like asking me to share only ONE thing I am grateful for... there are just too many!

    I think I will pick:

"I believe (KNOW) that I can do hard things and learn and grow and become better afterwards... and that hard things may SEEM like they last forever, but there's always an end to them!"

    ReplyDelete
  59. We just got home from my father-in-law's funeral, so that's an easy question.
I believe families will be together forever!

  60. I believe that I am capable of immeasurable love. For years I prided myself on my strength — which, in actuality, was just a hard heart I had created to keep away pain. But last year I became a mom, and absolutely everything has changed. The hard heart has melted and is full of so much love not just for my child but for everyone I meet — and even countless strangers — that I am a new person and so grateful for it.

  64. I believe more in my capabilities and in the presence of Heavenly Father's Hand in ALL that we do. This year has been a roller coaster for my family and I have learned that I am capable of doing so much MORE than I thought possible and through recognizing this I have also recognized His Hand even more than ever in my everyday life. I LOVE these by the way! Very pretty!

  65. Jocelyn, I feel the same way you do about the word "believe." Faith is something that has been growing in me in leaps and bounds and I pray it continues to grow strong. I also love words. I'm really curious about the book you mentioned and would love to hear a little about it. Have you read the book Aspire? It gives the origins of many words and inspires the reader to discover their purpose through the power of words. I'm not sure it did just that for me, but I will say it changed me in many positive ways. I wrote about just one word that impacted my life on my blog, "Sapere Vedere." this one word alone was reason enough to be thankful for the book.

    Have a great day! :)
