The Living Christ: Flashcard Download

Hi friends! (We might not be friends yet, but I'm sure we will be soon :)

I am so thrilled to join you here today as part of the Easter celebration of Christ. Isn't Jocelyn amazing? Someday, if ever I grow up, I want to be like Jocelyn. :)

In my current state, I am just me, just Lorene, just Lu -- and that's my blog, just Lu. :) Because I'm just me, and you're just you, and that's a good way to be!
I am just Lu
I blog mainly about the creative things I am doing (or attempting), as well as the other things that come my way as I traverse the life of being just who I am: a technical writer and SAHM to one adorable little boy and the wife of a tall, handsome elementary school teacher.

Housewife MacGyver

This year, I'm working on becoming a Housewife MacGyver: achieving self-reliance through wise use of resources in all the different areas of life. You can learn more and read all about it here.

Now that that shameless self-promotion is finished... I can get to what I'm really here to do: share my testimony and love of my Savior Jesus Christ -- and a really great printable. :)

I know my Savior lives.

I know that He created this Earth and all of the beautiful creations I love to see every day -- and that each creation testifies and teaches of Him.

I know He loves me, individually and unconditionally and with a compassion and depth that I can only begin to understand.

I know He leads The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and directs our prophet, President Thomas S. Monson.

I know that He is the supreme example of everything that I can and should be in life: a parent, a teacher, a friend, a child of God.

I know that He suffered for my sins
and that He was crucified for my sake
and that He rose three days later as a glorious resurrected being.

I know that because He suffered and died and was resurrected that I can also rise again and return to live with our loving Heavenly Father again after this life, through the power of His Atonement and through my willingness to humble myself, come unto him, and allow the Atonement to work in my life.

I know all of this because I have been taught by The Holy Ghost as I have done my best, and continue to do my best, to do what my Savior asks of me: to come unto Him.

I know that coming unto Him means learning of Him...

and I can learn of Him by studying the words of the latter-day leaders who know Him well, in The Living Christ.

{ This is where the printable comes in. :) }

I have been studying The Living Christ with the Young Women here in my ward as part of the Personal Progress Program. I am not much for memorizing -- enter flash cards! Thanks to the images made available online through the Church's new Gospel Art Book and the old stand-by Gospel Art Kit, I was able to put together a set of flash cards that I can share with you all!

Download The Living Christ flashcards here and then either print them on your home printer or take them to your local print shop. The 24 flash cards print on regular size 8.5"x11" paper, 6 per page for a total of 4 double-sided pages.

These flash cards are great for using as part of personal and family study, in Young Women and Young Men (and even Primary, perhaps adapted like Jocelyn's Family Proclamation ABCs) or wherever else you'd like.

And, if you're looking for some musical accompaniment this Easter season, I *highly* recommend the Easter cantata Love's Greatest Gift. The cantata, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is performed each year during Easter weekend by a volunteer choir and orchestra in Logan, Utah, and conducted by one of its co-writers, John Carter.

John, his wife Karen, and Cecelia Benson wrote the music, based on a text by Hortense Richardson, and it is amazing for bringing the Spirit into your home this Easter season -- and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir has nothing on these volunteers! :)

Unfortunately, due to a venue scheduling conflict, Love's Greatest Gift is on a one-year hiatus this year. They will be back next year, and in the meantime, you can listen to (and watch) selections of the performance here as well as purchase the CD here online or by contacting John directly.

Have a happy and Christ-centered Easter! And thanks, Jocelyn, for inviting me to come share. :)

  1. woah! Lu! These flashcards are amazing. I'm going to OfficeMax this afternoon and makes sets for our wee friends at church. Thank you so much! Checked your blog and it (and you), too is amazing. Very creative. You don't have to grow up to be Jocelyn, you just have to continue to be Just Lu. But the best idea is to never grow up. Growing up is not all it's cracked up to be.
