Everything I want my children to know before they start school
Lesson 11
"Learn from your teachers and follow the rules."
Ok, so in an earlier post, I mentioned that I didn't always appreciate the way that some of my teachers taught, but that didn't mean that I didn't appreciate them or what I learned from them. I just had a hard time, at first, learning to take instruction and following someone elses ideas of how things should be done. I openly admit that.
I am however very thankful for the patience that my teachers showed toward me and I totally value the lesson that all of us need to learn at some point in our lives...which is how to follow. As a leader, I have learned how important it is to understand how to follow. It is everything. Where would we be if we didn't know how to follow Christ? People who are not humble enough to follow or who are not teachable are very rarely an asset to society.
So, to my children, I say, learn from your teachers. Be teachable. Follow the rules.
So that when it is your turn to make up the rules, you will be very wise and capable of creating a just society and a caring community.

Fun, Cheap, and Slightly Messy Educational Activities to Do At Home
Ice Cubes & Hammers
This is a favorite activity at our house.
I send the kids outside with a hammer and a bowl of ice cubes and let them do what they will.
See how they smash. See how they melt!
It's sort of a physics/science learning activity as well.
Give it a try!
more great learning ideas, not just for children...
