I just made the tearful announcement to my neighbor, so I can now tell all of you...
There is a "For Sale" sign in front of my house.
I was being all brave about it until I saw the sign installation guy hammering away in my front yard just moments ago...I rushed out to tell my neighbor Nichole, who has become one of my very best friends, that we plan on moving to a new house (just a mile away).
Of course, we stood out in her driveway and bawled our eyes out thinking about what this means for us and for our children who love to play together. My kids are very excited about moving to this new house, but I don't think they realize yet what moving really means.
I am thankful for all of the beautiful moments that my family and I have had in this house. And I like that, through blogging, I now have pretty solid evidence that we not only lived here, but that we grew up in many ways here, that we laughed and cried here, that we built solid friendships here.
I am also thankful for the feeling of confirmation that we can move on from this special home, knowing that we did our best and tried to be our best here, and knowing that we're taking the best part of this house with us...our children! But still...it's hard! If I could, I would love to box up my friend (who gives of herself and her time to others so freely) and her family and take them with us! In my dreams, I really would.
Now to sit back and wait for a buyer...Here's a rare peek into my house if you're interested in seeing where the magic happens!!)
Oh Jocelyn! Good luck with everything--change is rarely easy. BTW, please tell me that you cleaned like a mad woman before those pictures were taken. That level of cleanliness just doesn't seem natural. :)
ReplyDeleteA madwoman...yes. Add to that, nesting was at an all-time high all pregnancy long (now I know why!) And everything (i.e. toys) is boxed up!!!
DeleteAt first when I started reading I was hyperventalating thinking you were moving away.I was able to breathe a little better when I saw that you were only moving a mile away.
ReplyDeletewe need to see pics ogf the new house too!
But woah you scared me!
Sorry about that!!!! :) You know I wouldn't drop a bomb on you that way! ;)
Deleteyour home is gorgeous! What I would consider my dream home. I can only imagine what your new place looks like. We're looking for a place...hmmmmm....where are you located? can you send me a link to the listing via private email? sunflowerblueyez(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteWe live in Pa....
DeleteMoving is so hard. We lost our home in April after living in it and loving every second for 3.5 years. We rented it and our landlord foreclosed out from under us - hadn't paid his mortgage in TWO YEARS. I still miss that place with all my heart.
ReplyDeleteI also miss some of the homes I lived in while growing up. We moved every 2-3 years as a kid because my parents are insane.
But, moving is also kind of awesome. New things to explore! Places to grow! Things to see! So good luck, and take lots of pictures of your kids in your house in the meantime. Then they can have those to look back and and remember their first house. Toby still talks about our old house too :)
Oh no! And now you're gonna make me cry again! ;)
DeleteWhat a lovely home you have! And I'm sure the new one will be equally so.
ReplyDeleteAnd at least you are close to the old place. Will you be in the same ward?
=)
Yes same ward
Delete.
.of have to move pretty far to change wards!
That's a beautiful home! Why are you leaving it? Something bigger? Something more affordable?
ReplyDeleteThank you...we have put a lot of love into it and we still love it but we've found something that will meet our needs as we grow as a family in the future.
DeleteYour house and land is amazing! I would consider it my dream home as well. We are living under a $1M mortgage for a 1500sf home in Santa Barbara, CA. At least I have my backyard chickens! Are there any tennis pro/club manager positions out there?! LOL
ReplyDeleteThat's insane! I know one tennis instructor out here...You'd do better as a farmer in these here parts though! :) Come on out! ;)
DeleteOur house is 2100 sf
DeleteYour house is gorgeous! We just moved (in August) from a tiny place we rented into our own home and it's been amazing. We only moved a mile, but here in Utah we are not only in a different ward, but a different stake, with a whole other stake between our old stake and our new one! Congratulations on your new home and all the memories you'll make there :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so crazy! We would have to move much further than one mile to get into another stake...try 100 miles! :)
