Leprechaun Service Adventure

I made up this fun little Leprechaun poem and treat for Guy to take to Preschool for his assigned snack day.  The idea started with rainbow colored fishy crackers and turned into a St. Patrick's Day service idea.

I made some very simple snack-sized drawstring bags using some St. Pattie's Day-themed fabric that I've had around for a few years now.   Each bag is filled with goldfish crackers and there is a chocolate gold coin hidden inside for each child to discover.

The full poem says:

The leprechaun is a tricky creature
Sneakiness is his most famous feature
Maybe you can be sneaky too
By thinking of special things to do
To help people young and old
Because helping people is better than gold.

What can you do?
Put away clothes or pick up toys
Be a good friend, make a joyful noise
With every secret act of service you do
You'll feel happy through and through.

You can download the tags that I used here.  (1st half of the poem....2nd half of the poem).  You should be able to print them front to back on card stock to create tags like the ones shown here.  Or scroll down to find the full poem on a longer tag.  And feel free to change it up and make it your own.  I thought it would be fun to instruct the children to leave a gold coin for the recipient of their kind acts to find....and wonder WHO did it! :)

Anyway, you could send these treats to church for the Primary kids or make some for your own little ones and see how many secret acts of service they can do "on the down-low" before St. Pattie's Day arrives!  Have fun!

  21. Thanks for sharing this creative idea.  I'm using this in our FHE tonight to encourage service among my kiddos.  I bought some plastic gold coins and will tell them to leave a coin wherever they do service; their goal will be to get rid of the gold!  I adapted your cute poem just a little and wanted to share my changes (I hope you don't mind).  Thanks again for a great idea!!
