The other thing I like about Halloween:
the license to be someone else for a night...
or even someone else from one night to the next.
Tonight I was She-Ra for our ward Trunk-or-Treat.
I threw this outfit together in like five minutes, because let's face it, I just happen to know where my She-ra outfit is at all times.
You see, this is my very own original She-Ra costume that I got for my birthday when I was a kid...and loved enough to save all of these years. I also have my glow-in-the-dark sword, shield, and action figures which my girls play with now.
Sadly, none of the kids at the party had ever heard of She-ra or He-Man.
What is the world coming to?
I ask you...
I absolutely loved She-Ra. I had the costume and all of the action figures too, except my parents tossed all of them out once I outgrew them. *sob* Can I come over and play with them sometime?
ReplyDeleteI never heard of she-ra either but then I raised all boys...LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love that you kept the costume!
ReplyDeleteI think you should have come to our trunk-or-treat tonight. I would have asked you for your autograph! I was just plain silly tonight. I came as Smarty Pants. I pinned Smarties to my pants. The little kids thought I was playing some cruel joke on them teasing them with the candy while their parents made them eat their chili. The young women got it, I love "my girls" they get me.
ReplyDeleteFrom one She-Ra fan to another, I salute you! Amazing! Love it so much! My mom was selling some of our She-Ra/He-Man movies at her garage sale this summer.....aw, the memories! =)
ReplyDeleteNo worries, Jocelyn; I know who She-Ra is, and I loved her too! I never had any of the dolls, but I got to play with my best friend's rather extensive collection. She even had the castle. Oh, the memories.
ReplyDeleteI want to be She-Ra the next year, She was my favorite caracter when I was a child, I always wanted to get married to a He-Man, after all, I think I made it!!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is Blond, tall and he is a Prince, because is a son of a Hevenly King, hehe.
SHE-RA ROCKS. Holy cow I am so happy just thinking about that show ;)
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!
ReplyDeleteyou were unique and one of a kind...we both know who She-ra was and she had the power to do anything. You go girl!
ReplyDeletei think this one better than the roller derby queen...altho i realize why that was cool.
ReplyDeleteFOR THE HONOR OF GREYSKULL
He-Man and She-Ra were my youngest son's favorites. He would have watched those cartoons day and night, if I had let him!
ReplyDelete=)
PS. You make a lovely She-Ra, by the way. ;)
What a great way to merge the good times of the past, with the present! All of my older kids would have known who you were, the younger ones would not have. We all have different things that are important to us. My son loved HE-Man! I have watched more of that cartoon than any other!!
ReplyDeleteDS, age 3, was He-Man for Halloween. He loves watching the tv show, courtesy of hulu.
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to tell you just how jealous I am. I'm totally linking this in my post tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI love this Halloween message. And I love both of your costumes.
ReplyDeleteI found you through Serene's blog. Guess who my four-year-old wanted to be for Halloween? And, yeah, no-one knew who she was either. But she was an awesome She-Ra!

had to come by after Serene mentioned your She-Ra costume - too funny!!! I confess though that I prefer the Roller Derby costume - couldn't WEAR it (me on wheels is a recipe for disaster) but I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look awesome! :)
