I love that my children can do so many things on their own.
I have worked hard to help them become capable in so many things.
(And by "worked hard" I mean that I sat back and allowed them do things for themselves.)
As a result, they are continually amazing me with their initiative to do things for themselves.
Like the day before yesterday, when the kids wanted to show me that they could mop the kitchen floor all by themselves...or earlier today, while I was blogging and Autumn decided to take a bath in the sink while Scarlett whipped up some chocolate milk for them enjoy while bathing. They were happy as clams when I finally looked up to see why the water was running for so long.
And then there was the interactions yesterday when Guy was having a meltdown about losing his acorn collection, and Scarlett just quietly went about gathering items to console him in his loss. She spoke softly to him and helped him to see the bright side, and they got through it together.
All of this comes from raising not just self-reliant children but spiritually self-reliant children.
If you'd like to know more about the things that I think are essential to raising spiritually self-reliant children, then hop on over and read my guest post at I Am Just Lu today!
Well, Scarlett tells me that my lunch is ready now (she's prepared a sandwich for me)...I think a relaxing soak in my kitchen sink sounds good right about now, don't you?!
