As I was contemplating how to make scripture study more feasible and fun for my children (ages 1, 2, and 4), I decided to make a few changes in how we do things.
1. Instead of reading and seeing how far we get while the kids run around the room, we will read just one preselected verse each day...a verse about Christ and his Atonement.
2. Here comes the fun part. The scripture reference will be hidden inside a plastic egg which will be hidden somewhere in our house each night. The child who finds the egg gets to help us look up the scripture and will be able to also help read it aloud to the family.
I'm thinking three small Starburst jelly beans hidden inside the egg might facilitate a nice quiet reading as well! We will be introducing this new method of family scripture study tonight at Family Home Evening. I'll keep you updated on how it is received!
It should drive home the idea of "search", ponder, and pray!
