Easter Treat: Bird Nests

It's a nest.

It's a treat.

It's a bird nest you can eat!

(It's also a great source of fiber.)

Ingredients:

Fiber One Cereal
A Bag of mini-Marshmallows
A stick of butter
A bag of malted chocolate eggs

Proceed as if making rice crispy treats (Melt the butter in a large pot, add marshmallows, stir until melted...) and use Fiber One cereal instead of rice crispies. Mold into "nests", place eggs in center of nests, let cool on a wax paper-lined baking sheet, and enjoy!

  1. Those look good. I have had the same idea but made a touch differently but I think yours would taste better than the ones I have had in the past. We will have to make these. My kids will love them. Thanks for the post!

  2. Another idea to make with my girls. Excellently done Mrs. Martha Stewart. That should be your second name. Hugs

  3. adorable. do you add the egg candies before the nests set up so the eggs don't roll off?

  4. These look so good. Much better than when we made them a few years ago. But we used crunchy C\
hinese noodles. think we'll try the cereal this time.

  5. Yes, add the eggs after you shape the nests...although it tends to stay pretty sticky either way.

Other recipes call for using chow mein noodles, but Fiber One is tastier. Also if the Fiber One is too much for you, you can always mix in rice crispies as well.

  6. We made these Thursday. My kids loved them. We put peanut butter into the mashmallow mix for more flavor and I scooped it into silicon muffin pans to make round nests with less mess. After they set we could just pop them out onto a plate. They made wonderful "Happy Spring!" teacher treats.
