When We Aren't Busy Making Babies, Sometimes, We Actually Do Go On Dates...

I have a super-good husband.  And I'm pretty sure that I don't tell him nearly enough how wonderful he is and how much he means to me and to our family.

The other night I asked him to put the kids to bed so I could go to bed early since I was sick.  I went into the hallway to grab a towel and I overheard him teaching my daughter how to pray.  Oh, she knows how, but he was helping her to slow down and think about what she is saying, and to think of new things to pray about.  He was on his knees beside her bed, and I thought, "That's why I married this man," for this and all of the little things that he could do for us (that are actually big things to me) that I knew very few other men would.

Even with a silly mustache painted on his face, I look at the picture above of him with my daughter and I see a real Man!  A really great man.  I love my husband.

Sometimes it seems like we work so hard, all. the. time. taking care of our three young ones and keeping up the house and cars and doing our callings...and work...that there is hardly any time to express our love in that regular couple type way...such as just sitting there holding hands and talking...like on a date...but here we are doing just that at a black-tie affair that we went to for his company last weekend.

And here we are sweating like pigs after running a 5K together the weekend before last.
(His idea!)

And sometimes we dress up like pirates and throw parties.
(My idea...He had no idea I was doing it...In fact, here he is being abducted from our living room by a hairy man-wench and brought to the party!)

If you've got a husband, take time to look at him today, really slow down and notice all of the wonderful things that he does for you and your family on a regular basis, then give him a big squeeze or sit him down on the couch and TELL HIM how much you appreciate him.  I'm going to try harder to do this more often.  Well, the sitting him down on the couch part, not so much the abduction part, but that was fun too...

One more day to enter the giveaway....check it out here. I will pick a winner tomorrow.

  1. great post. I just got up with my hubby at 5 am for the second day in a row to help him get off to the senior games-he's in charge of the target archery part. I'm so proud of him and his efforts, and told him so. Hubbies are to be appreciated.
