Take On Me

I keep having these completely abstract thoughts as I'm falling asleep at night.  I think about blogging about them, but in the light of morning they only make sense to me.

Last night, I was thinking about my real life and my blogging life.  In the last few weeks, I've spent way less time blogging...way less...(You might have noticed?)...which has left way more time for me to spend enjoying my real life.  There was a time when my virtual and real world were very much intertwined, but lately my real life adventures have taken me far away from the computer....which is unexpected and sort of refreshing.

This also leaves me wondering...is this a good move?  Is it temporary?  If I stay away too long, how will I ever find my way back?

As all of this was swimming around in my head last night, I thought of the A-Ha video "Take On Me" and I thought...that's it...that is the perfect description of my two worlds right now (minus the virtual love interest :)  Hey, it's my fantasy...I can be the girl in the video, if I want to! :)

Discuss amongst yourselves.

Oh and be a friend and tell me which 80's music video best tells your story at the moment...
It'll make me feel like less of a nut!

  1. Do what is right for you, but know that you are missed when you are away.  And please, please don't end up in a disheveled heap behind the counter of some cafe.

  3. For what it's worth, just like everything else in my life, I've found my blogging has seasons. I'm learning to pay a lot less attention to what that means to everyone else, and more to what it means to me. Sometimes God moves something on our plate into main course status, and the rest gets less attention for a while. And sometimes, when things get added, some things just need to go to compensate for the new load. You'll figure it out. :)

  4. I love A-Ha!  this was my favorite video for years even after they weren't popular anymore, and I must confess I love me some Boy George and the  Culture Club every now and again..   Your blog has been an inspiration, our kids are older and I wish I would  have known all the things I know now.. I just told my teenager, this am " I don't know "...when she asked what I had said to her meant, and I then said..  "  I haven't been a mother of a teenager before.."    I would love to have some more experience with that..or do I?   :)

  5. Your sister borrowed my Aha tape from me back at Miami & kept it a long time.  Must be popular in your family.  My 80's theme would probably be from the 70's since I didn't like the 80's until the 90's.  That's the historian in me.  I guess I'll go with  "Your Wildest Dream" by The Moody Blues, since it transcends my slow progression handicap.

  6. I'm pretty sure that my sister is the very reason why I like this song/video!  :)

Love it!  :)  Some of the BEST Love songs came from the 80's!  Air Supply, Chicago...And you can't forget the Bee Gees.  I just had to go to You Tube and listen to Air Supply-All Out of Love.  Thanks

  10. I have to be honest-- I couldn't watch the video once I heard the music.  And I don't think the video was meant to be cool without the music so oh well:)

But back to real life and blogging!  I am glad you got to have a moment to hit the refresh button:)

  13. Jocelyn- I love this post- you know I cranked up the volume and just danced :) and it felt great.  I would have to say mine right now is 'Living on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi ha ha was not my total favorite growing up, but up there.  The 80's was my time so I have so many favorites- "Walking on Sunshine" by KC & the Sunshine Band, "Only when you Leave" by Spandau Ballet, anything by REO Speedwagon.  AND Random thoughts are good, we all have them and sometimes its nice to know we are not the only one, and someone else is probably thinking  the same thing.

  17. good, I'm not the only nutty one! :)  Thanks for coming to my aid.  Someone once remarked that "walking on sunshine" must be my theme-song...in a round-about, snide way, it was his way of paying me a compliment...I think.  :)

My 80's video/song: Pat Benatar "We Belong".  That may be the 80's song for my life.
