Does your family have special traditions surrounding General Conference?
My Mom always made THIS recipe on Sunday morning of Conference...and so do I!
You won't get it any other time of the year at our house...just one more reason to celebrate this weekend! The words of the prophets in our home and:
CONFERENCE CAKE:
Dough
Topping
- 1/3 cup Bisquick
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter
Directions:
1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- 2 Grease a deep pie plate, 8"x8" square pan, or 9"x9" square pan.
- 3 Mix dough incredients and put in baking dish.
- 4 Mix topping ingredients with a fork or pastry mixer until crumbly.
- 5 Spread topping mix over dough and drag a butter knife across like you were making a tic-tac-toe board several times.
- 6 Bake for 25 minutes.
Note: I always double this recipe and cook it in a 9x13 pan.
Yum! I make a similar recipe all the time, but have never thought to have something special for conference. It might just be sticky buns around our house!
ReplyDeletelooks good, fun tradition...perhaps I'll make a sugar free one...
ReplyDeleteLooks yummy! What a fun tradition.
ReplyDeleteWe also have a special conference breakfast recipe - known as Conference Casserole. It only comes out at Conference and Christmas morning. Even on Christmas morning the kiddos still call it Conference Casserole. :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks a lot like our special "Breakfast Cake" that we make on someone's birthday. Now, I'm going to make it on Conference too, thanks for the idea :)
ReplyDeleteStephani...you should SHARE your recipe!!! :) Please!!!
ReplyDeleteI always make monkey bread on Sunday morning of conference. My husband just told me last night that he's looking forward to it already. :-)
ReplyDeleteit looks really good!
ReplyDeleteI used to make that all the time. Thanks for reminding me!
ReplyDelete=)
We always make monkey rolls (the kids favorite) and snacks. I am a big believer in snacks when I am trying to get the kids to sit still.
ReplyDeleteMade this today. The girls love it!! I forgot how good it tasted back when I used to use bisquick all the time. It is wonderful to make something different. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMy mom always made 'Ebbelskevers' on Saturday morning. Then we'd do yard work during the break since it was always time to get everything ready for spring planting. I need to think about making my own traditions now...

ReplyDeleteWe dip them in lemon juice and powdered sugar. So good!
Delicious. I make a similar recipe all the time, but have never thought to have something special for conference. I sure my sister will be like to eat in breakfast.
ReplyDeleteDear Jocelyn, my family enjoy your Conference cake again.
ReplyDeleteIt has been one of our traditions for a couple years now.
Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know, Sylvia!! We did too! Enjoy the rest of conference, friend!!
