Family Proclamation Photo Book Tutorial

My Mom has raved about our next blogger Kristin for a while now.
And with good reason.  She shares lots of unique and creative ideas for visiting teaching
on her blog See Me Visit Teach!
I have asked her to share her idea for a Family Proclamation Photo Book
that we can make for ourselves AND share with the women we visit this month!
I also thought it would be a great lead-in to our Family Proclamation Photo Walk which starts tomorrow...

Hello! I'm Kristin from SeeMeVT, a blog that shares creative ideas for sharing the Relief Society visiting teaching message each month. This photo book is a fun project to put together as a family, that combines meaningful family photos with the words in the family proclamation.

I created a pdf file (that you can download here) that has individual phrases from the proclamation. After printing onto transparencies, cutting, and combining with correlating photographs, you can slide your project into a 36-photo album like the one I purchased from Wal-Mart for $1.00.

There are plenty of pages to layer the text over photos, and also to have some pages with just text (like the photo above), if the photos are too busy to layer words over.

It definitely works best if the photos have a light-colored background.

You can, however, still see the text on a little dark or slightly busy photos. Some of my transparencies stay put without any trouble, and some needed a little dab of tacky glue to keep them from sliding - depending on where I placed them on my photos.

I love breaking up the proclamation into small bites like this, to really think about each part and what it means. My children love seeing it alongside our photos. It's meaningful in a delightful way.

Make sure you buy the transparencies that are meant for your printer - whether inkjet, laser or copy machine - and follow printing directions on the package. You could also print on cardstock and make a little paper album.

One last thing - I made a duplicate of this quote: "Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities." It is printed all together in one place, and then printed as separate words on the last page, in case you want to use a separate photo for each principle mentioned.

Hope this is a fun project for you and your families!

Thank you so much, Kristin!

    1. Thank you for letting me know about the link, Lisa. Please contact Kristin and Inkablinka to see if she still has it on her site. Her site migrated, so that's probably why the link was lost: http://inkablinka.com/
